Statement
POSITION
Little Barn is situated in a small rural
village with a very limited bus service. There is a regular
service from a bus stop one and a half miles away and the
nearest accessible railway station is 10/12 miles away in
Cardiff. Guests may well find this position very inconvenient if
they plan to rely on public transport and we do not recommend
this. However there is provision for parking on site which
includes a parking place immediately outside the front door of
Little Barn.
PHYSICAL ACCESS TO LITTLE BARN
The cottage was created by conversion
from a 300 year old barn and the original roof lines were
maintained to protect the village scene. At the front door there
is a step and at the rear door there are four steps. Within the
property there are three steps between the lounge and bedroom on
the lower level and the bathroom and kitchen that are on a
higher level. It will not be possible to change this layout
until the village is linked to public sewerage services. In view
of the need to negotiate steps both when in the property and
when vacating the property Little Barn is not suitable for
people relying on the use of a wheel chair.
MOVEMENT WITHIN LITTLE BARN
There are three steps between the lounge
and bedroom on the lower level and the bathroom and kitchen on
the higher level. A firm hand rail has been provided to assist
guests with mobility problems or impaired vision. Little Barn is
only suitable for guests who can confidently negotiate steps.
BATHROOM FACILITIES
These include a standard bath with a
shower over. Given that access is limited by the need to
negotiate the steps mentioned above only conventional facilities
have been provided.
SHOPPING FACILITIES
There are no shops in Welsh St Donats
but there is an excellent range of shops and restaurants in
Cowbridge which is about two and a half miles away. There is a
large Tesco Store and a Marks and Spencers six miles away.
TELEPHONE
There is a Public Telephone in the
village about fifty metres from Little Barn.
